Rhino's at Risk

1. First you will be assigned to a team of 2-3 students.

 

2. With your team, watch the video below that discusses Rhino poaching. This will introduce the issue of Rhino poaching in South Africa. Be aware that the video contains some graphic images. Using your school email create a Google Site to be shared with your team members and myself.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. As a team, research the following areas below using appropriate resources. The resources provided are intended to be a starting point for your research. Please make sure any additional resources are appropriate and highlight current information.

 

a) General species information about the White and Black Rhino

   ADW

 

b) Statistics about each species and their current endangered or threatened status

   Hanging By A Thread

 

c) What is perpetuating Rhino population decreases (include a worldview that highlights this) 

   Nature

 

d) Possible measures being taken by individuals or groups helping to save the Rhino populations    

   around the world (include two different worldviews)

   SA Hunters National Site 

 

 

Here are some possible worldviews you can use for section c and d:

• Federal government

• Illegal immigrant

• Local game farmer

• Park security

• Non-profit organization

• Environmentalist

• Retailers of Rhino horns

• Researchers studying the medicinal use of Rhino horn 

• Consumers of Rhino horn as a medicial treatment 

• Citizens of South Africa

 

** Before you select your final point(s) of view, ensure that you have an adequate amount of resources available for the written content on your website.**

 

4.  After gathering all your resources, use your team Google Site to collect all your information, compose your web content and save your work.

 

Reminder: Save your work frequently!

 

5. Seeing as this is part of a tourist website, images must be included. As you design your Google Site, make sure you include appropriate graphics and/or videos to supplement your written content.

 

6. Be sure to compile the resources from your research and include a reference section in your Google Site.  Your reference list should include any information, images or videos you used to create your website.
